In June 2023, the Niagara County Legislature established the Niagara USA 250 Committee to guide the county’s commemoration of America’s 250th anniversary—the semiquincentennial.

Now, in 2026, Niagara County proudly joins communities across the nation in marking this
historic milestone. Municipal leaders, heritage organizations, and residents are coming together to honor our shared past, celebrate the people and places that shaped our communities, and reflect on the legacy we will pass to future generations.

To commemorate the anniversary, the committee commissioned a commemorative flag.
Featuring an emblem of the iconic Niagara Falls designed by Timothy Synor, with the flag
designed by Joseph Marranca III, these flags will be displayed throughout the county’s 20
municipalities at their town halls, in their business districts, among other places.
Now available for residents to purchase and fly at their homes, the flag represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to showcase Niagara County’s rich heritage, highlight the stories that define our communities, and celebrate the enduring spirit that has carried our nation from 1776 to today.
